POST-DOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP IN CLINICAL NEUROPSYCHOLOGY

The New York Presbyterian Hospital-Weill Cornell Medical Center Clinical Neuropsychology Post-Doctoral Fellowship in the Department of Neurology & Neuroscience is a two-year postdoctoral specialty training program. The fellowship program provides advanced training following the scientist-practitioner model for a career in academic research and clinical application of adult and geriatric neuropsychology. Fellows participate in research on diagnostic and therapeutic intervention trials for dementing disorders that include brain imaging, biomarkers, and corresponding neuropsychological measures. Current research projects of faculty and fellows include passive immunotherapy (intravenous immunoglobulin) studies of Alzheimer's disease (funded) and post-shunt cognitive outcome studies in Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus (funded). Clinical training is supervised by an ABCN/ABPP board certified neuropsychologist at the Weill Cornell Neuropsychology Service. Clinical cases involve outpatient neuropsychological assessment of adults with a variety of neurologic conditions, with an emphasis on memory disorders and age related dementias. Populations served include patients with neurodegenerative disorders, tumors, normal pressure hydrocephalus, multiple sclerosis, cerebrovascular disease, and movement disorders. Didactics include memory disorders case conferences, neurology grand rounds, geriatric grand rounds, psychiatry grand rounds, brain cutting, and a variety of other teaching conferences throughout the medical center. Exit criteria for the fellowship program include evidence of the skills necessary for independent neuropsychological practice. Fellows must demonstrate capability in independent practice of neuropsychological assessment, consultation, advanced knowledge of brain-behavior relations, and scholarly activity submitted for publication, presentation, or grant proposal.
Eligible candidates will have completed all doctoral requirements as well as internship training in Neuropsychology before the start date (July 1st, flexible start date). A competitive stipend, including medical benefits and vacation, is available. On-site interviews will be arranged once applications are processed.
